About

At Lower Cape Codders Youth Hockey, we’re all about developing hockey players in a fun, encouraging, and challenging environment.

Below is an overview of our programs, from their first experience with competitive travel hockey to preparing for high school hockey. All practices are at Charles Moore Arena in Orleans, with most teams practicing twice each week in addition to games. We also typically send our teams to one off-Cape tournament each season and we host our own Invitational tournament for Mites, Squirts, and PeeWees.

Mites
This is our youngest age group for travel hockey, comprised of 6 – 8 year olds. The focus here is on skill development and fun with formal practices,  building teamwork, and sportsmanship in the context of competitive sport. We offer multiple teams according to skill and experience level of players, playing in either the Bay State Hockey League located in Kingston , MA.

Squirts
This is our next age group, comprised of 9 & 10 years olds. Focus remains on skill development, while beginning to expand knowledge of the game. We usually offer two teams at this level, playing in the South Shore Conference

PeeWees
Our 11 & 12 year old skaters begin to focus on hockey systems, increased knowledge of specific positions, and more competitive games, while still developing physical skills. Per USA Hockey rules, PeeWee teams and younger age groups are non-checking, but knowledge of body contact is taught to prepare players for safe play at higher levels. Coyotes PeeWee teams play in the South Shore Conference

Bantams
For our 13 & 14 year old skaters, Bantams begin to play full contact hockey. Players are taught about proper, safe ways to deliver and receive body checks, along with when checking is appropriate. At the same time, skill development and specialization are continued. The Bantams play in the South Shore Conference

Midgets
The Coyotes are proud to once again offer an Independent Midget team for our oldest skaters. This is a half-season team designed to augment the shorter high school hockey season for those players that want to get in shape and play more competitive hockey.

Our program offers teams for the Mite, Squirt, Peewee, Bantam, and Midget divisions. These teams play in different divisions and leagues throughout southern New England.

We are always welcoming growth to our program and urge all interested to reach out for more information.
